A few site updates

Hey there
While getting a bit exciting about the new UT release which will be pretty soon, I'm trying to update the site's content to have also UT3 covered. So far I could update our Downloads section where you will find the Beta Demo and new categories for UT3. Same with the Web Links section. I've moved relevant UT3 sites to the new UT3 categories.
Furthermore, I've started a new survey. Maybe you like to vote :
What do you think about the UT3 Demo?
If you find anything which is outdated or where you think we should update, add, remove something, please let me know and I'll take a look. Feel free to submit your own Links and Downloads if you find anything useful
There will be also a new version of your site software pretty soon which will give me quite some work. It's a larger upgrade than before but it has been pretty updated and we can expect a few nice new features

Hi
Another little updated I've just finished on our site. As with the last update, this mainly fixes issues with the CMS as well as closes security holes to make our site more stable and secure for all of us.
As always, if you find any problems, please let me know, thanks.

Site upgraded to Nuke-Evolution 2.0.3

Hey there
Just updated our site to the most recent release. It mainly fixed issues in the CMS and fixes some security issues so there is not really anything new.
I've upgraded the shout box. The new shout box has a bit less queries and won't refresh the site anymore when you shout which makes it faster. This version is still beta so there might be issues with it but so far it looks fine.
As always, if you find any problems, please let me know, thanks.

Site moved to a new host

Hey all
Sorry that the site suddenly went down but I was wondering the same when I tried to access the site a few days ago. I couldn't contact my friend anymore where the site was hosted (I only heard that in his country they have a lot political problems right now and I assume it's because of that) so I was forced to take all my files and DB and move to a new host.
During this night I have worked to get everything moved to our new host and I'm happy that it went that smooth. We have no data loss and everything seems to be up and running as expected.
If you find any issues, please let me know, thanks.
Enjoy the site again

Hey all
Finally I have done the most part of the upgrade for our website. I will go on completing things which are missing yet.
What has changed? Well, there are numerous of changes including many bug fixes, security & performance improvements and some new features for the users and admin. Some highlights:
Site is a lot faster due to performance improvements
Collapsible blocks (will be stored in your cookies)
New Main Navigation block
New Donations block
New Userinfo block
New Site Map
2 new BBCodes -> Google Video and You Tube Video
Improved BBCode Box for Quick Reply
New Theme called Centrium-Shellz (you can change themes in Your Account)
I already discovered a few bugs unfortunately but not too bad actually. One is the forum statistics but that seems to be a problem on our server. Then the TeamSpeak module does...

Site mainly restored and available again

Hey all
For those who weren't aware off our recent downtime, we had a fairly big problem with our host. They managed to get our main harddisk formatted instead of another harddisk within that server... They also deleted the backups of 10 site owners, included our site. So there was no way to get our site back as it was unfortunately.
I have lost a lot of work I've done for the site, mainly improvements to core modules to improve performance and to make it cross-browser friendly. I could recode certain things already, mainly the most important and sometimes necessary parts for the site, so it works again.
What have I done since the site was down? Well, first I was fairly shocked of course but luckily I had some backups of the database and also the files. The database is missing one month now but during the August, we haven't had much of posts so it's not that bad. The rest of our database could be restored and is available again. Well, here's a list of what I've done so far:
- Recoded XHalo theme so it works with this CMS (still needs a lot of work but should be k for now)
- Restored database (still a few issues but mainly fine)
- Installed certain (not all yet) mods we used on the site
- Some parts I've removed or better said I haven't added them back but had to clean database etc to get it properly removed
- Recoded certain blocks, modules and other stuff we used before so it can work like it used to be
- Other stuff I cannot remember right now ...

Recent Troubles with eS Site
Reads: 1517 |

Hello all
First, I'm very sorry about the problems with our site. This time, it's not the bandwidth what was causing troubles but it was our provider which seems not to be the most professional ones...
A friend of mine is hosted on the same server like we are. He got a pretty big site and he decided to switch to a new CMS last weekend. After 2 days, he had major troubles with his site. One you may have noticed as well, that was the suspension of my friends site as well as our own site since we are on the same server. The provider rebuilt our whole server to get rid of certain bugs and to improve performance for our both sites.
Unfortunately, they didn't inform me that the files are stored somewhere else now but also kept the old files where they were originally. So, I was modifying files which weren't really accessed anymore. Well, I was more modifying backup files rather than the real files I just realised that because I saw that the directory structure isn't exactly the same but since ...

eS website was not reachable this morning

Sorry for those who wanted to access our site this morning but as you may have seen, the site wasn't reachable due to bandwidth problems which could have been solved now.
One IP located in Japan was eating up a lot of bandwidth this months (2.5GB) which was the main reason why we exceeded the bandwidth limit. After banning this IP and having a talk with the host, everything should work properly again. We even got more bandwidth since the host said that they can give me more as the server doesn't use much bandwidth right now and the best thing is, we don't pay more
Well, I hope we won't suffer from such things anymore that soon again. Enjoy
