eS getting back online again

Hey there

I guess some already thought that we died or something with all the downtimes we have but we will be back online pretty soon again, well regarding our UT game servers at least. The site is another story which might change in near future too.

Ok, first about our game servers. For those who didn't know it already, we had some pretty bad luck during the last months. We have lost 1 of our main HD and also partial backup files of our servers which means we won't be able to restore all of our servers which isn't that bad actually. I was thinking for quite some time before the crash that we have to change some stuff with our current UT server setup since we have too many negative effects recently.

K, going a bit more details now. Our Invasion server most likely won't come back online not only because I have lost one important file but also because it used to be too buggy, the server load was enormous and it also crashed a lot of times. I see that our members don't play Invasion that much anymore and thus I think it's not that bad to let it die. Even though I liked this server most because it was the first public server I've prepared and it's also somehow the beginning of our clan history. I met really nice and talented people there, especially in the beginning so this server will be always part of our clan. Well anyway, since there is only one file missing which could be recreated after some time (with some changes), there might be chance to see it back one day but I won't promise anything at this point.

The same goes for our AS-Trials server. We have all the necessary files to get it back online quickly but I think this server isn't much of use for our clan anymore. We have no interest to build up an AS-Trials squad nor do we have people who activily play it anymore. Since most of the maps have no quality, really bad server perfomance and what not, I prefer to let it die as well and I think most from our clan won't be sad to hear this.

Another problem is that all our maps are gone since that harddisk died. We had a lot of maps available and this will take also a lot of time to get some back up again. Of course, map packs and such won't take that long but we had a lot of custom maps. We also had a lot of crap maps or maps we just don't play so maybe this isn't that bad as well.

Hmm, so what will be left then? 8O As you may have seen, our private server is ready again. I have to do a few changes so it might go down and up again during the next hours but feel free to test it out already if you see it online (well for those who get the PW).

Well, this is only one server you think. Yeah, that's true But expect at least 2 new server setups. One will be an iTAM server which we wanted to prepare a long time already. This will go online pretty soon I'm sure. Maybe I also will add it to the private server but we'll see. The new iTAM server will replace the old 4Gibs server which was not used that much unless we played there. The third server I'm not sure right now actually. I have an UTXMP server in mind for quite some time now and since I'm fairly pleased with the latest release, I most likely will give it a try and see what happens. Would be removed pretty fast if we see that we could use it for something better so no problem. If we won't go for the UTXMP server in the end, we would have enough resources to create another one. We still can think about it a bit later.

Finally about the site. As you may know, we are hosted with a friend of mine which got a pretty big site. Unfortunately, his father got ill recently and he couldn't be around and thus our site was down very long sometimes. The server seems to have some issues because it crashes quite often and he used to be around to get it back online. Well, not the last months as you have seen as well. At least, we won't have to pay any bills for the next 3 months which is nice, thanks

Our download section should come online soon as well again.

I hope that we will get back fast again and that we won't suffer from such things anymore, well at least for the next few weeks

Thanks for your patience and cya around hopefully soon.
