every one must of noticed how easy it is to complete the invasion server. and how so dreadfully boring it is up til atleast wave 15-16, then it gets boring again until wave 25 . ive seen everyone on the server say how boring it is and they cant wait for big jim on wave 25. so i think we need to spice it up abit, i hav some ideas and i wil get links for the mods soon.
i think there needs to be alot more waves with big jim. currently i think theres only 2 waves with him on and if theres 3 then i didnt notice lol everyone loves jim, needmore of him.
titans shouldnt take 1 hit, its stupid, a giant monster like that doesnt ever , ever get a chance to throw one stone they should take 3 hits i think
maybe some new mods to spice it up even more. like the parachute mod for example. its really fun to watch other peopel with it parachuting down and also the monsters wil ahv better chance of getting u heres a pic hazel.h sent me today
theres other great mods too but i need to go look for them again. thres one where you can actually aim in 3rd person. i play in 3rd all the time and its so cool. its called aeiral view. il go look for some more and get some more ideas.
some new monsters would make it better too i think. there easy to make. jsut gimme a skin! |

the parachute is cool, like if your on Goliath , and everone hides up top, u can parachute down ! it wouldnt be seen on alot of maps cus it only opens after so long. but i think it would be a cool extra, to spice it up. lets go find more cool stuff!!
two-legged-freak's server is packed woth LOADS of cool monsters and cool mods! hes got a really well balanced server that works with the xxx trans even! lol i think we should ask him for tips  |

nice ideaz Ini, I'd like to see some new stuff on Invasion aswell, havent played for a while for that reason, unfortunelty I still havent had a chance to get some alpha'z done for the mutatorz but I have a few ideaz aswel

In the same package (u4e I think, therez loads of new monsterz an stuff)
If you want I can see about installing some stuff, as my eveningz are a bit more free at the moment (only for the next 2 weeks!!), not free enough to get the mut'z done, coz really I need a good 8-10 hours straight working on those (am useless doing 2 hours coding, coz I dont stop for min 6 hours lol), but I can probly get some new stuff up and running on the inv server if you dont have time
Think it would be good, coz I notice the server is slowing down a bit, well I should have had mut'z ready a long time ago, but I dont so... |

I agree, up to wave 16 it's very easy especially with the number of people there are on the server at peak times (10 - 14). It doesn't have to be the same as the other waves, maybe just some more variety and more challenging. The cows near the beginning sit and do nothing except get picked on by flies and mantas, itd be funny if they chased you/stampeeded or did something, like the bunnies. Parachute is a good mod but I think it would be too easy with xxx trans. |

Well, as I posted already somewhere else, all the servers need to be redone IMO because there are quite a lot of issues. I have made a very special setup for our servers which I'm sure you won't find anywhere else. It took me a long time to "develop" my own UT server base but I'm working with that configuration since the beginning of UT2003 but I haven't maintained it very well recently which is the reason for some of the issues.
I agree, the first waves need some changes. However, I don't agree about that the waves until 15 or so are boring. Maybe until 6 or 8. See, the monsters are very well balanced IMO. Each wave took me quite long and I tried to make it unique. True, it gets old and I also want to spice it up. But I still have a lot of fun there and I never have seen someone saying anything really, if so, it was a positive message. What needs to be changed is more the difficulty then. Well, you will soon find out that making it more difficult won't make it much better. I tried it once and we will have people again complaining. It will be very difficult I can assure you Remember the bots on the CTF server? Is it k now? Well, I think, and I only changed one skill level lol.
I don't think that the waves or the difficulty is the problem really but the maps we usually play. It gets old because of the maps, believe me. Play new maps and it will change. Don't play Osiris for example... It's way too easy, doesn't matter how difficult you will make it and that is getting old. I played that map about 13485476846416746146761743272567527 times if not more in my life lol so why playing those maps all the time.
Furthermore, I believe that we could create one of the most popular custom iInvasion server out there. Even people from USA come regular and play on our server and I also had a few talks with such people and they really love our server which means a lot if you look at the distance (ping).
Nonetheless, as I said already, we should spice it up a bit But keep in mind, while I generally love the idea to improve it, there are many more factors which are important if you want to keep the server successful, stable and fun combined. I want to have a popular server and not an overjunked server where you have to download about 700 MB before you can start playing. It's at its limit already IMO, it shouldn't be much more.
Furthermore, I still wait for miszt's new stuff because I think we should replace the existing mutators first, get all those bugs out of the mutators and go on with ideas. The current TGPInvasion is pretty bugged. I have found numerous of pretty annoying bugs which we need to get rid of first IMO before we add more stuff which could make it unstable etc.
Well, what's left then. Hmm, I will try to improve the first waves somehow but again, this needs testing. I have a lot of experience with Invasion, trust me in this one , and I know what works and what not but for that I need to play it for a few hours so I'm able to imagine how it works on a public server which means a lot of work (well better time-consuming) which I don't have available right now as well.
Maybe I can take a peak this weekend but actually I planned to go out with some friends (parties ).
During the week I don't have that much time anymore because I have too much work at my office recently and I cannot spend another few hours improving stuff. If I do something, I want to do it the right way which needs time so you can blame me for that lol but I'm not a guy who rushs such things.
I like the parachute mod, looks cool and I think it might give a new touch to Invasion. About other monsters. I know other monsters since UT2003, they existed as well but usually you had troubles. Bad coded mutators, bad frame rates, doesn't suit existing monster, is not balanced compaired to the other monsters, well the list goes on. satoreMonster Pack is one of the only packages available which not only suits the existing monsters but also work very well together. There is a reason why he won the Unreal Contest in the mutator section and that's because he knew what needs to be done.
Ah yes, just another issue I remember which is the framerate. See, the server is very busy already. The invasion server eats up a lot of resources, not only on our server itself but also on the clients and people complaining already about framerates. This is because there is so much stuff going on on the server with all these monsters and projectiles etc. So we have to consider all these factors and make it balanced which can be tricky. Some maps are unplayable already because of this.
K enough blah blah I will see what we can do. Keep the ideas coming but please consider also the above stuff  |

Right then, if u wanna know what i got on my server then here we go...
Monsters (all using satore monster pack to insert them into game):-
U4E Monsters from their mod
C5 Monsters
SkaarjAddon V3
Star Wars Addon (need gasbag addon for it to work)
U2Skaarj (massive sized package for monsters that just melee attack not really worth it on ur server)
Wehtam Invasion
Wyrm-HC-R3
Zombies of nightmare (slow movin zombies that really hurt when u get touched by them but again up to u coz they dont really do much)
& my own creation of Big jims buddy Magdelena (with a BFG from U4E)
As well as that the nali's on my server have weapons from U4E mod only (gotta check out the black holes they're great) makes for some impressive special effects.
Mutators on my server (but mine is vehicle invasion with the ONS maps as well):-
edo Chute1
jcb content mania v73a - i use to put vehicles in any map that i decide is big enough to accomodate it....funny for some CTF & DM maps
Trans Elite V2 - very fast trans which in conjuction with the chute makes for a laugh
Weapons of Evil - dunno what i'm using in this mutator lol but its installed (just can't remember)
Aerial View - 3rd person but i only use it sometimes just for a change

CicadaInv Fix
Ejection - if u do put vehicles in other maps then this is needed so u get ejected when it dies

& of course a similar instagib rifle to urs (but no shock balls though:()
Plus i got zounds on mine but with only 4 peeps it doesn't get overused unlike on big servers.
Also with the jcb mania mut u can add custom vehicles (assault scorpion is useful in INV).
I think thats all of it & to get it all workin in harmony takes a lot of tweakin but fun when u get it right & yeah Titans should take 3 hits

omg freaky *drools*
yeah the U4E stuff is really really good, especailly the new weapons for the nalis,
freakys Magdalena monster is cool too. its like big jim sister/daughter or summat. taht would make a real cool addition, and its waiting for us right there!!
i think the main things is more big jims and titans should take more than 1 hit especailly! and all of the above in freakys post lol *drools* so many new monsters , ah yeah lets get rid of the crappy normal monsters like krall cus they are jsut pointless. theres a much nicer Krall in the Wehtam pack i beleive *drools* omg and those new warlords in the same pack! omg, the fire cool stuff.
ofcorse not everything on freakys would suit ou server and then we would just hav another freaky server. but i belive in the new monsters and other things..
out with the old, in with the new  |

I don't think we should have too many big downloads (like kottys and freakys servers), because it'll take ages to get on and will lag with so many people. Have you ever tried setting up that zoom instagib mzy mutator so you can have healthpacks/vials/adrenaline pickups? It might help keep players moving round the map more instead of camping in one spot the whole game. Does a custom link gun sound any good? maybe a bit more powerful than normal and you could link up with teammates.
I've started to design a map for inv on paper, haven't started mapping yet as I'm working on a jailbreak/ctf map. If you ever saw the film "alien" that's the kinda feel I had in mind (with smashing glass, slow closing doors, monsters hiding in vents? lol) If you've got any ideas please let me know. |

Thanks for sharing your setup and ideas with us, Freak . I'm sure we can use some of these but please still consider my first post as INI seems to just ignore those VERY IMPORTANT factors
We have to decide what we're going to take off of the server because the framerates are really a problem if there are 14 players. Which leads to the TGPInvasion mutator again as this holds almost every change we have on the server. This needs to be replaced first before I can start to build the Invasion server from ground up again which is needed also. Miszt?
Furthermore, we have only one real server which needs to share all its resources with those 4 servers we are running. Since the Invasion server takes about up to 50 % (sometimes even more ) we need to change there something. Either we get rid of a server (which I don't really like) or we have to make sure that the Invasion server takes less resources. We also could buy another server which would be cool but I won't spend so much money again on my own. Miszt paid a lot as well so I consider some part of the server as his own as well. Since we don't have that much support regarding money ( ) this is no option. |

does the normal invasion have options for changing waves? if it does then I can get together the Necro asap, as it seems thats the only thing extra that is really needed right now (sacrifice never seems to be used, so I think we can do without it for a little while..?)
I havent even looked at changing waves yet, so hopefully that is somthing that is part of normal Invasion, if not I could rip apart Ovels code and see what I can come up with, but like i said, I havent even looked at that bit, so it may take a while :S
I'll see how much of the day I can spend on that tomorow, priority one is necro, but I have relatives staying, usually thats not a problem, but my gran talks allot and may interupt me every 5 minutes lol |

With satoreMonster Pack, you can customize the waves so you don't need to take care about that. I can set it up via the .ini file
