Since I've noticed a few who are complaining about lag which recently seems to appear on our game servers, I'd like to do some tests with you so we maybe can isolate the problem.

I've played as well recently to check lag issues and most of the time it works fine here but the problem for me being that I have a very unstable connection recently so I'm not really sure if it's due to my connection or somewhere in between.

I have contacted the provider to do a few tracerts with you so the provider gets some info and maybe they can do something. Well first we need to find the bottleneck if there is any.

I have monitored the server during the last days and I cannot see a problem on our end. The CPU usage is usually pretty low so it's not caused due to that.

Ok, lets get started Smile

First please check if you have any packet loss. So far I haven't noticed a single packet loss on my client but maybe a few of you get some. Please tell me if that is the case or not. If you don't know how to check that, open the console in UT and enter the following:

Try to do that a few times while you play. Best is if you think the connection is bad or if the server is busy for example.

K, now lets do some tracerts. If you have a Windows OS, then do the following:

1. Start -> Run...
2. Enter 'cmd'
3. Enter 'tracert 84.244.146.13'

If you got Unix/Linux, you can use the command called 'traceroute'.

Please post the output within this topic so I can collect the information and pass it to our provider. Note that one tracert isn't accurate. Do a few of them and post them here. The same goes here like above. Do those tracerts when you think the connection is bad or when the server is busy. You also can do that during a few days of course. The longer you test, the more accurate it is.

It would be nice to get those tracerts from many locations. So like from France, from Germany, from Netherlands from UK and so on. We then can see if it's a global problem or more related to some specific networks in your country for example.

cant do tracert really my router rebootes when i try that... but u can do a ping test with my router... Ping Result: Pkt Sent:4 Pkt Recv:4 Avg Rtt:20

First let me say I didn't noticed the lag as much as some of you did. Normally I had some little lag while playing with more than 8 or 10 ppl on a server.

I started a couple of trace routes and in hop 7 and hop 11 I got worse results in some cases.

I don't think you have a contract with we-dare but you should have the owner of the servers (which are located at we-dare) contact we-dare about it.
