A few days ago, FMI has released the 3rd Public Beta of UTXMP.
No need to say that this took way too long IMO but I know that it isn't an easy task as well but still. I will still keep an eye on it since it's one of the best games I've played so far and post news if I find any.
Following up a small introduction:
Unreal 2 XMP, originally developed by Legend Entertainment (released in December 2003) which got shut down unfortunately, will be ported from a group of well-known Unreal coders and mappers within the Unreal Universe called Free Monkey Interactive (FMI). The team also got support from the original developers Legend Entertainment which should make it a really nice piece of work. It will be named as UTXMP which is a Total Conversion for Unreal Tournament 2004 and will be available for free if you own a copy of Unreal Tournament 2004.
What is UTXMP?:
UTXMP will offer intense class-based vehicular action in a range of stunning alien worlds, where players must manage energy reserves to power their war machines and battle for the control of four mysterious artefacts. UTXMP players will be given control over a vast array of all-new fearsome weapons, as well as mines, turrets and other deadly automated defenses.

If you like more large-scale and strategic-based games with a touch of Unreal Tournament I'm sure you also will like this TC.
My Summary so far:
As you may know from the Beta 2 release topic, I wasn't that happy with the version they provided us because there were too many annoying game play bugs and other little issues. I haven't had the time to play Beta 3 yet but will do soon for sure and will keep you updated.
Not sure how far they will come with this conversion since UT2007 is nearly finished but I hope they can port it pretty easily over to UT2007's engine but I have no clue really if that will be easy since this is a new engine. Time will tell.
Since our download server is still down, we cannot offer a direct download from our site, sorry.
Note: Keep in mind it's still BETA!

Just wanted to share my recent experiences with it. Well, so far it really looks a lot better. They have concerned more on important bugs than before which is really nice. Most things work really well IMO and it starts to become fun. Well, I haven't played it too much of course to really say how it is but it is closer to the original one than it ever was. Even the vehicles are a lot better, not perfect but a lot better 
Would be nice to have some games together one time, though so far I don't see much more activity than before but I hope it will change a bit. |

Was fun yesterday after the training Since we couldn't play anymore on the server we played (file mismatch), we ended up in MSN and decided to give UTXMP a go.
We even found a server with some people and I have to say it was quite a lot of fun. There is still quite a lot of work to do with the current version but as already said, it becomes fun again to play this game. Most annoying bugs could be fixed so you get at least a chance to take a look at the game and don't hate it because of all the issues there were before.
Though, to show it someone like I tried yesterday with slayaplaya, I think it would be better to do that on an empty server so you don't annoy those people who like to play. There is a lot to learn, especially since the maps are a lot bigger than UT maps generally and tactics is important a lot too so you need hours of playing before you start to become really good. You should need some basic knowledge before you start playing it online IMO.
I've made a tutorial over here for those who are interested. That will explain some basic things which will help to show you around quite a lot. You also will find an official tutorial with images. Pretty nice which helps a lot as well. Read the sticky topics over here:

lol I was pretty lost yesterday since I've had no time to read all these tutorials yet  .
Anyway I try to play some more in the next days to get used to the basics.
It would be nice to have some more matches with you soon |

seem for any one else who want to play xmp or getting to know it on a empty server  well thats why i asked you to explane it to slaya lol i had not muche time during the game....
