After a long time I've finally ordered my new pc, and I've also made a list of its components (click on an item to see more):
I hope the cpu will be available ASAP, fortunately it was released yet and I've read that some ppl have it already at home. |

Well I was looking for any good looking silent case and Lian Li has a lot of them. Unfortunately most of them are to big to fit under my desk or the motherboard has to be installed upside down - heatpipes won't work properly in that way. So only 2 cases were left - the B20 and B25, and both aren't available in Germany. The B25 is available in Switzerland, but they don't deliver to Germany, that's why I decided to order the B20 in an austrian shop.

Intel has some trouble to release the new 45 nm Penryn mainstream quadcores - and I got impatient The E8400 is about 100 € cheaper than the Q9450 and i think in actual games I'll gain more performance due the higher clock rate (3.0 GHz vs. 2.66 GHz)

Don't scare me I hope it will work. I've found a compatibility list though and read that this RAM will work on my motherboard, and I don't want to overclock my pc which could cause trouble too. I'm optimistic

I didn't installed them on my old pc, so I cannot give you any feedback for now. The only thing I can say is this mouse is really big For a short overview you may have a look at this .

Ahh ok on the case then if it fits it fits^^ at least now i understand why you wnt to so much troubles getting it
In my experiance with the qwuad core..i have to disagree with you...windows xp and vista seem to have np to spread the load out over 4 cores.
Not all games, but most seem to work the same way, not sure if this is du to the OS or du to the game core.
lol well doent worry to much bout the memory i did planty of reading and looking for teh perfect fit for me and took me a good week to get them working and there still not on there stock speeds. :S
Movie looks ok hehe but i cant part with my G5 logitech besides the macro button there more or less the same, i will however try the microsoft out when i see it somere
let us know when you done building your system! I try and get my ut skillz back |

I'm still waiting for the CPU...
I changed my order a little bit: I ordered another mainboard of Gigabyte which is pretty similar to the one I've ordered before, but this one has a "Dynamic Energy Saver" feature, which promises to save up to 70% power Well I don't believe that it saves so much power but at least a bit
Look at the initial post for a link. |

Yesterday I've received an email from the shop where I've ordered the computer parts. They told me that they need another 14 days (at least!) before the cpu will be available
Well, I've just ordered a second cpu from another store and hope they will be faster.
I'm very impatient now - I've got 3 new games here (Crysis, Hellgate London and UT3) and can't play them yet |

Guess which pc I use for posting this article
Finally I got my new comp, most programs are installed and I'm ready to play
Of course I still have some problems with it:
The dvd-writer has problems to read double-layer data dvds. It still has the first firmware version though, and I think this issue will be fixed after Samsung has released a new firmware.
The Thermalright cpu cooler I've purchased doesn't fit on my board or better, it's backplate doesn't fit under my board. There are some contacts of capacitors in the way I've written an email to Thermaltake today and will see if they have a solution.
ATM I use the Intel boxed cpu cooler. Edit: Problem solved
Finally my Windows Vista needed a lot of time to start after logging in (up to 5 minutes). I could solve this with turning the sidebar off. I hope it will be fixed with the upcoming SP1 for Vista. |
