| Long ago, artists flocked to this spot, renowned for its natural geysers which produced smoke, a mild hallucinogen and inspiration to them all. Soon, the temple was built overtop. Now, amid the musing smoke which shrouds the structure, combatants f... more |

| Status Report |
| by FreakinMeany at 10/17/2008 2:13p Comment |
You may have noticed that for a period there, the site's activity slowed to a crawl. There are currently 60 maps pending in the approval queue and I am getting to them as soon as I can. If you are still awaiting approval, I kindly ask for your patience.
Because Mapraider is a hobby of mine, and because the site donations aren't anywhere near enough to pay for the operation of the site (see the progress bar to the left on the home page), I'm forced to put real life duties on a much, much higher priority than Mapraider. If you'd like to see that change, please donate. |

| Weekly Updates And Stats Fixed |
| by FreakinMeany at 3/17/2008 2:22a Comment |
I discovered a bug in the e-mailing of the weekly site updates and mapper submission stats that was keeping some of the e-mails from being generated. I believed I have fixed it and will be manually running the maintenance routines in just a moment to verify.
If all goes well, you will receive a site update and/or a map submission stat email today and regularly again from now on, assuming that you have these options turned on in your member preferences. Feel free to turn them off if you don't want to receive these emails, and please let me know if you noticed any bugs or areas of improvement.
Update: It didn't go quite as smooth as I hoped. My apologies if you received two copies of anything. |

| Help Needed! |
| by FreakinMeany at 3/13/2008 7:35p Comment |
Running Mapraider takes time and money and your help would be greatly appreciated. Please donate to Mapraider to help fund the cost of hosting this site, the maps, and the bandwidth to deliver them to you for free. Click here to securely donate with your credit card or with PayPal.
As you can see by the "Chip-In" counter on the home page, we have a long way to go towards our hosting fees this year. Every little bit helps and any amount you can give is greatly appreciated. A donation will also give you ad-free visits to the site for a year.
In an attempt to lower the cost of running the site, I've unfortunately been forced to make our high speed, direct download mirror limited to registered users. Due to it's growing popularity, the cost of bandwidth has simply become too much for me to afford on my own at the moment. If donations become sufficient enough, I'll make the direct downloads available to anonymous guests again.
Thanks for your help. |

| New Feature: Latest Map Comments |
| by FreakinMeany at 3/11/2008 5:54p Comment |
I had been debating on whether to add this into the current site or not and finally decided to just go ahead and do it, but a discussion in the forums about the seemingly lack of discussion on the site convinced me to do otherwise.
Truth is, there is a lot of discussion taking place on the site, but it's in the form of comments being posted on maps. And now you can easily find the latest comments made. If you scroll down past the new map listing on the right of the home page, you'll now see a listing of maps that have most recently been commented on.
This is kind of a duct-tape addition to the site for now, so if you have any suggestions for improvements, let me know. |

| Maps that cannot be approved yet. |
| by FreakinMeany at 3/6/2008 3:35a Comment |
Well, I've contacted the authors via email, posted a news article about following directions, and left the maps in the queue for a long time, yet no response and no fixes. Maybe if I post their names in public, they'll finally respond and help me get their submissions fixed so I can approve them :)
If you know these mappers, please point them to this thread and ask them to fix their submissions by going to their submissions page and clicking "edit" next to their map that's pending (don't resubmit the map):

I haven't been able to acquire UT3 yet, so I am currently unable to take screenshots for UT3 maps (otherwise, those last four listed would already be approved and done). If someone wants to purchase a copy of the game for the site, please feel free. Contact me if you're interested. |
